July - Jenkins Family Summertime Update

Sno Cones, Baseball games, BBQ - YAY! I love Summer!
We are having a great time doing things on the weekend.

Anyway, things w/ Max are getting better, sort of. Well, they aren't getting any worse. I think we've just gotten used to it. Potty training is not fun, but going better than I expected. He only pees in his undies when he's mad at us. Nice huh? God he's stubborn!

Charlie stands up for minutes at a time - clapping at himself and laughing like he knows something. Totally cute but he really needs to slow down. He needs to be a baby for as long as possible!

Brad is Brad...works, bowls, furrows his brow, makes funnies when you least expect it. He has watched the boys (ALONE!) twice in the last week, all day from breakfast to just before dinner! It went ok. No one bled or didn't get fed. I smell more freedom coming my way!

YAY!!! Dad's DO get used to actually parenting their own children if given enough opportunities, I promise. Of course, I'm all about womens freedoms and equality in marriage, so I might not be the person to ask...or the person to help facilitate a happy marriage...especially seeings how tomorrow's my birthday and my own husband is planning absolutely NOTHING to celebrate it...he might be retaliating from all the 'parenting opportunities' I've thrust on him?? But more power to ya sister!! you need a break every now and then!

So true! I know it's my fault for the most part - not giving him opportunities. I'm pretty too controlling. It never bothered me before, but now I realize that being out of the house without those two is HEAVENLY!!!

On a side note...I asked mine to go out to dinner on my bday. I arranged for a sitter (grandma). When we got to the restaurant, I realized he never even said Happy Birthday. So I asked, "UHH, did you really forget my birthday?!?!" He looked like he was going to cry. He totally forgot. I know it's bad, but I TOTALLY took advantage of him for about a week, lol. Brought it up all the time, lol. Bet he remembers this year!

Are you getting excited?? I will try and send you the vouchers this week! Since you don't have air, we don't have to follow the 10 day rule!!

woo hoo!! Yeah, send the vouchers if you think of it! We're totally getting excited!! Now that the horrible b-day is over and done, I'm thrilled to be going on vacation without my husband!! I wish I could say that he forgot- but no, he just didn't do anything! What is with these guys?? Must be way more important to us girls than it is to them...perhaps we should 'accidentally' forget the super bowl this year and make plans for the whole family to do something REALLY worthwhile, like have family photo's taken...in matching itchy wool sweaters which could perhaps feature bunnies or some other cuddly woodland creatures...The guys might think twice about messing with our b-days' after that!
Good for you for getting out of the house!! I know it feels weird right at first, but you get used to it...you just need to do it MORE!
